I have it at the back of my mind that the popular story, often used in authenticating Mrs.White's prophetic status, of her holding a Bible weighing 15 or 18 pounds on her outstretched hand as she preached for half-an-hour or more may be apocryphal. What does the White Estate know about this incident? Is it authenticated or is it apocryphal? An early response to this question would be very much appreciated. Is there a web page that deals with what Elder Robert Olsen used to call the E.G White Apocrypha?
Sincerely,
___________
Dear Pastor ___________,
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. The answer to both questions is Yes: we do have the Big Bible story on good authority, and there is a web page on the Ellen G. White Apocrypha. You will find both at our website: www.WhiteEstate.org, in the "Selected Issues" area. You can click there and navigate your way to them, or you can use the direct URLs if you wish. For the first one, go to http://www.WhiteEstate.org/issues/faq-egw.html, and you will find the "Big Bible" heading before you have gone very far in the document. For the "Apocrypha," go to http://www.WhiteEstate.org/issues/faq-mist.html.
I hope this helps. Thank you for writing, and God bless!
