A question came up as I was reading EGW about Adam seeing Jesus at the resurrection. There is no mention of Eve. I looked in the index and found the quote in the Bible Commentary but it only says that they repented and were saved. I wonder if there are any known reasons why there isn't more about Eve at that time or if there are comments that I haven't found. Thank you ___________
Dear Sister ___________,
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. Sometime within the last year or so someone else asked me a related question, and I was surprised, as you were, to find no specific mention of Eve in these scenes. As you have already discovered, this does not mean that she is not there, for we do have some indication in Mrs. White's writings for what Scripture seems to assume: that she will indeed be saved.
I can only guess the reason for the lack of mention, but my guess is that Mrs. White is following the lead of Scripture here. Paul represents Adam as the head of the race (see Rom 5:12-19, 1 Cor. 15:21, 22), which reflects the way the story of the fall is handled in Genesis 3: despite the fact that Eve sinned first, God turns first to Adam and asks for an accounting from him. Paul also presents Christ's atonement as the antidote for Adam's sin, which represents the sin of the human race. Mrs. White was shown these two "representatives," Adam and Christ, meeting again. My guess is, the fact that she does not mention Eve is not to exclude her, but because biblically (it seems), she did not represent the human race in the same way that Adam did.
I hope this helps. Thank you for writing, and God bless!
