Ellen Whites that Eve wandered from Adams side in Patriachs and prophets on page 53. I did not see it mentioned in the Bible that she wandered. Can you clear this up for me?
Dear Sister ___________,
Thank you for contacting the Ellen G. White Estate. The Bible does not mention her wandering, as you know. But it implies that she and Adam were not together at the time of her temptation. Adam does not appear in the scene in Genesis 3 until the end of verse 6, where Eve gives him some of the fruit to eat. The temptation scene is exclusively a dialog between the serpent and the woman--a highly unlikely scenario if Adam and Eve were together at the time.
May a true prophet of God record details that earlier inspired messengers did not give? Indeed they can. We find a number of Psalms commenting on events in Israel's history, giving details not found in the earlier story. There are four Gospels in the New Testament, and only one of them could be written first. Were the others able to include material that the first one did not? Certainly. So it is not forbidden for a later inspired writer to go beyond what earlier writers had done. If this were not so, why would there be any need for the later writer?
I hope you will find this helpful. Let me know if I can be of further service. Thank you for writing, and God bless!
